Sagitta Pharma is widening a premium delivery service for pharmacies, tapping logistics group Sterne to reach far more sites. The service, Sterne’s Access Direct, will extend to roughly 100 partner pharmacies, up from about 20 today.
How It Works
Sagitta Pharma, a purchasing central and wholesale distributor based in Fondettes near Tours, lets pharmacies order later in the day and receive deliveries the next morning before 8am. Sterne handles evening pickups from Sagitta’s 5,000 sqm logistics platform in Fondettes.
Why It Matters
For pharmacists, later cut-offs mean orders that track real patient demand more closely. The company says that translates into leaner stock, fewer shortages and better medicine availability. Sagitta Pharma now counts 3,560 client pharmacies across France, having strengthened its network in 2024 by absorbing two wholesalers.
Just-in-time replenishment is spreading from retail into pharmacy, where a missed delivery carries a heavier cost than a lost sale. Expect more wholesalers to test the model.
