FM Logistic has taken over the logistics of garden retailer Gamm Vert from a single 30,000 sqm site in Saint-Georges-d’Espéranche, in France’s Isère department. The warehouse replaces two older facilities and now supplies more than 550 franchised stores across France and Belgium. It was inaugurated on 2 July, though it has been running since last September.
One Site Replaces Two
Gamm Vert Sud et Est, part of the Teract group’s purchasing arm, handed its distribution to the 3PL after outgrowing a two-warehouse setup. Teract’s central buying operation also covers the Jardiland, Delbard and Jardineries du Terroir banners. Paul De Sousa, managing director of Gamm Vert Sud et Est, said the platform gives the cooperative’s member structures a more modern, agile tool that can keep pace with shifting store networks.
Built for High Throughput
The building holds five cells, sized to handle bulky goods alongside small product references. FM Logistic designed it to receive 90,000 pallets a year, pick over 6 million items, and ship more than 130,000 pallets. To speed order preparation across a wide assortment, the operator rolled out its Pick-to-Graph system, a visual-assistance tool on handheld terminals meant to cut picking errors.
A Foothold in the Lyon Basin
The site had previously housed SPI’s operations for Nestlé France, before that activity moved to a new facility at Saint-Vulbas. For FM Logistic, the addition tightens its grip on a region where it already runs sites in Annecy, Saint-Vulbas and Mions. François Regnier, who heads FM Logistic France, framed the opening as a way to reinforce the company’s presence in a strategic area.
Whether the Isère hub becomes a template for further retail-logistics consolidation in the region is the question worth watching.
