French 3PL GT Logistics is moving deeper into Safran Power Units’ Toulouse operations. Two years after winning the contract to run logistics at the Safran Helicopter Engines subsidiary, the provider is now embedded in Power Up, the €120 million capacity overhaul that will roughly double the site by 2028.

From Operator to Industrial Partner

GT Logistics took over Safran Power Units’ Toulouse logistics in 2024, integrating around twenty Safran employees and reorganising receiving, quality control, warehouse management, raw-material cutting, line-side replenishment and shipping. The provider rolled out Follow GT, its own flow traceability tool developed under the Nouvelle-Aquitaine “Industrie du Futur” programme, to give the customer real-time visibility on physical and information flows.

Safran Power Units designs auxiliary power units (including for the Rafale fighter), starter systems for civil and military aviation, and turbojets for missiles and drones. The brief was clear: support rate ramp-up and prepare the shift to a 4.0 industrial site.

Designing the 2028 Plant

The Power Up programme channels more than €120 million into a near-doubling of footprint, digitalisation and robotisation of production. GT Logistics is now working alongside Safran engineering teams on the future site layout, contributing flow analysis, implantation design and digitalisation expertise. The teams use an immersive 3D modelling tool to run scenarios and accelerate decision-making.

The partnership now spans six Safran sites across France, positioning GT Logistics as one of the group’s go-to operational partners for industrial logistics.
