British cereal manufacturer Weetabix has renewed its multi-year warehousing and distribution agreement with XPO Logistics, the contract logistics provider confirmed on 7 May. The new commitment extends a relationship that began in early 2024, when XPO took over operations at two dedicated sites located between Birmingham and Cambridge.

Two Dedicated Sites in the East Midlands

Under the contract, XPO continues to manage Weetabix inventory across warehouses in Burton Latimer and Corby, both in Northamptonshire. The provider handles end-to-end activities at the two locations, including storage, order picking, and international transport with associated customs clearance for export shipments. Burton Latimer is also home to Weetabix’s main UK production facility, making the sites strategically important for outbound flows to retail and foodservice customers.

Service, Safety and Certification Gains

According to XPO, the partnership has produced measurable operational results since launch. Service levels have improved by more than 9%, while the operation has logged in excess of 1,000 days without a workplace accident. Quality performance has also been recognised externally, with the operation earning an AA+ rating under the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety, the British food-industry certification framework.

Dan Myers, Vice President Supply Chain Europe at XPO Logistics, said the team had “met every objective” set at the start of the contract, citing the combination of safety, service and quality benchmarks as evidence that the partnership has matured into a long-term operational platform for the cereal brand.

Automation Drives Visibility and Decision-Making

XPO attributes much of the performance uplift to a steady programme of warehouse automation, which has expanded data visibility across the two sites and supported more proactive operational decisions. The provider says the automation roadmap has helped synchronise inbound, storage and outbound activities, while creating clearer KPIs for daily and weekly steering. The renewed contract is expected to build on that foundation as Weetabix continues to scale its UK distribution footprint and export channels.
