Spanish discount retailer Sqrups, founded in 2014, aims to grow its national store network from 115 to 200 by year-end. To support this strong growth, the company has leased a warehouse of just over 10,500 sqm in the first building of the Oaxis logistics park, currently being developed by GLP Group in Villaverde, about ten kilometers south of Madrid.

Part of Larger Development

This building comprises three units totaling nearly 26,400 sqm. More are set to follow: the new park named Oaxis GLP Park Madrid Villaverde spans over 280,000 sqm of land offering more than 170,000 sqm of buildable space.

Southern Europe Hub

“Oaxis GLP Park Madrid Villaverde was designed with the ambition of becoming the reference logistics hub in Southern Europe,” says Miguel Monreal, Development Director at GLP Spain. “The strength and attractiveness of this project have just been confirmed through this first contract with Sqrups. Moreover, this high-potential company has entrusted us not only with its operations but also with the establishment of its new headquarters in Spain.”

Warehouse Operations

The warehouse is managed by Hardis WMS solution and has a storage capacity of nearly 11,000 pallet positions thanks to racking supplied by AR Racking.

“The growth of our store network demands increasingly robust and flexible logistics,” says José María Toro, Operations Director at Sqrups.
