GXO Logistics has opened a new logistics hub in Medini, Malaysia, inside the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, the contract logistics group announced on 27 October 2026. The site, which carries Free Trade Zone status, is already operating as a regional base for customers in the technology and advanced manufacturing sectors.
A cross-border base in the Johor-Singapore zone
The hub sits within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, a cross-border area intended to link Malaysia’s Johor state with neighbouring Singapore, and the site carries Free Trade Zone status. GXO said direct connectivity to major manufacturing centres, ports and airports lets companies optimise inventory positioning and reduce operating costs. Scott Copeland, GXO’s managing director for Asia Pacific, said the site gives customers a strategic base to scale efficiently and serve both regional and global markets.
Anchored by a semiconductor-equipment customer
According to GXO, the facility currently serves as the regional hub for a leading global supplier of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, which the company did not name, and targets technology and advanced industrial customers more broadly. Michael Jacobs, GXO’s chief executive officer for the Americas and Asia Pacific, said the site would give customers “greater flexibility, resilience and speed.” GXO, which describes itself as the world’s largest pure-play contract logistics provider with more than 1,000 facilities worldwide, said it is evaluating additional capabilities for the site, including emerging warehouse technologies.
