Kuehne+Nagel has widened its Cool Corridor network for temperature-sensitive healthcare goods, taking it from 8 to 12 dedicated air-freight lanes.

New Lanes on the Map

Four routes join the existing set: Frankfurt to Atlanta, Chicago to Narita, Brussels to São Paulo, and Chicago to São Paulo. The corridors are built for vaccines, peptides and biologics, cargo that tolerates very little variation in transit.

How the Corridors Work

Each Cool Corridor is a dedicated routing that pairs handling aligned with the sector’s Good Distribution Practices (GDP) with transfer processes kept inside tight temperature bands. The lanes are the product of coordination with airlines and Kuehne+Nagel’s ground-handling partners.

There is a commercial angle too. With conditions more tightly controlled across the journey, shippers can move to lighter passive packaging. That opens the door to lower logistics costs and reduced transport emissions without putting product integrity at risk, according to Dorothee Becher, the forwarder’s vice-president for global healthcare air logistics.

Market Context

Pharma shippers keep pushing for controlled, auditable lanes as regulators tighten expectations on cold-chain integrity. Adding transatlantic and trans-Pacific capacity into and out of major manufacturing hubs is a bet that demand for that assurance is not slowing. Routing that touches Atlanta, Chicago, Frankfurt, Brussels, Tokyo and São Paulo also stitches together the trade corridors where much of that volume actually originates.
