DPD France is getting a new 4,500 sqm parcel depot at Bourg-lès-Valence by spring 2027, replacing its current Valence agency with twice the floor space. GSE won the build. Construction started in May, and the partners laid the first stone in early July alongside Rennes-based investor SB2F Gestion Privée, local authorities and the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône.
Room to Grow
DPD, the parcel arm of Geopost within the La Poste group, already ran an agency in Valence serving the Drôme and Ardèche. The replacement doubles the surface to absorb rising volumes. Alexandre Joly, industrial director at DPD France, said a second goal was better working and operating conditions for staff and subcontractors.
Designed by Apside Architecture, the depot will hold a 2,900 sqm hall for receiving and sorting parcels, plus 1,100 sqm of loading and unloading space fitted with 10 docks. The site can take up to 80 delivery vehicles a day.
A Long Partnership
The project represents an investment of around €5M. It marks the 20th real estate collaboration between DPD and GSE in France. The two won it together through a 2022 call for expressions of interest run by the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône, covering a 2.8 hectare plot on the banks of the Rhône. One selling point: a quarter of the land is set aside to preserve and improve existing biodiversity, with extensive tree planting.
Whether that ratio becomes a template for future depots on riverfront land remains to be seen.
