Réunion-based retailer Ravate has rolled out Scallog’s goods-to-person picking system across two warehouses on the Indian Ocean island, both operated by its partners ID Logistics and COR Logistique. The sites doubled retail picking productivity within two weeks of going live in the first half of the year.

Inside the Deployment

The first warehouse, dedicated to DIY goods, runs the system under a mezzanine over 180 sqm. It handles close to 800 SKUs through one picking station, three robots and 80 shelves offering 1,800 storage locations. The second site, focused on home equipment, spreads across 750 sqm with two picking stations, six robots and 200 shelves. That gives 5,600 storage locations for nearly 5,000 SKUs. Scallog says the installation is the first anywhere to use its new goods-to-person setup mounted under racking, shown for the first time last year.

A Wider Automation Plan

Ravate frames the project as a first step. The group wants robotics across its flows over time, from small-item handling to pallets and container unloading, paired with more digitalisation and a reorganisation of platforms by product type. Scallog’s longer-term aim, it says, is one platform for small volumes centralising close to 20,000 SKUs, and a second for pallets, oversized goods and bulk.

For an operator running warehouses thousands of kilometres from mainland France, steadier picking reliability changes the economics of retail and e-commerce fulfilment in the Indian Ocean.
