Isitec International has bought the parcel-tipper business of Alfi Fimec, a small manufacturer in France’s Maine-et-Loire that was placed in liquidation a few weeks ago. The deal lets Isitec equip parcel sorting centres from one end to the other, adding the turner-unloaders that feed parcels into the start of the process.
Strategic Rationale
Until now Isitec sold itself as an integrator. This acquisition changes that. “It takes us from solutions integrator to an industrial player that owns its own unloading technology, made in France,” said managing director Gilles Poderos. He sees the shift as a credibility boost on large postal tenders, at home and abroad. The company’s catalogue now spans the full value chain, from unloading through to dispatch.
Operational Details
Alfi Fimec was a former subsidiary of Alfi Technologies. Its turner-unloader line will be run from Angers through a new entity, Isitec Atlantic, which will handle sales, project management and R&D. Production is set to move gradually to a new plant near the group’s Millery headquarters.
Market Context
To push the range internationally, Isitec plans to lean on its European subsidiaries and on the French Postal Suppliers Alliance, a grouping of SMEs that pool efforts to win export business. Owning the technology rather than reselling it could reshape how Isitec bids for the next wave of postal automation contracts.
