Launched in late 2024 on a north–south corridor in France, FM Logistic’s rail-road intermodal transport offering has now expanded internationally with the opening of a service between France and Poland.
In June, Sylvain Philippe—European multimodal development manager at FM Logistic—said the company was working on a link between the multimodal hub of Dourges in northern France and the city of Łódź, around 140 km south-west of Warsaw.
A distinctive feature of this first international corridor is that it can carry both swap bodies and truck trailers. “This evolution broadens the range of intermodal use cases and strengthens our ability to meet diverse customer needs, both in terms of volumes and the types of goods,” FM Logistic notes.
Present in Poland since 1995, the French 3PL has continued to grow there, notably operating for L’Oréal and Lindt.
This first corridor is intended as the initial building block of a European multimodal network that the provider wants to extend towards Central and South-Eastern Europe and the Iberian Peninsula.
“Multimodal is a pillar of our European strategy,” says Alexander Pavlov, Managing Director for Central Europe at FM Logistic. “It is not just an alternative mode, but a different way of designing the supply chain—based on intelligence, pooling, and sustainability.”
The move aligns with broader industry efforts to reduce carbon footprint through modal shift. DHL’s renewed SAF partnership represents another approach to sustainable logistics, while rail remains one of the most effective decarbonization levers for long-haul freight.
