German e-commerce platform Zalando will close its logistics center in Erfurt (Thuringia, central Germany), which employs about 1,000 people on a 130,000 sqm surface.
Citing the need to simplify its logistics network and optimize operating costs, the group-owner of 12 logistics centers in Germany, Poland, and Italy-plans to stop activities at this Erfurt site by June 2027. “Adapting our logistics infrastructure is essential to remain competitive,” states Roberto Gentz, co-CEO of Zalando, which employs over 10,000 people in fulfillment centers and generated revenues of nearly €10.1B in 2024.
