ID Logistics is adding another oversized platform to its Benelux network. The French third-party logistics group has confirmed a roughly 53,000 sqm warehouse at Tiel in the Netherlands, sitting in the Rotterdam hinterland on the Medel business park. Delivery is set for October 2027, and once running the site is expected to employ up to 500 people across two shifts.
Strengthening a dense regional network
The provider already operates 30 warehouses in the Benelux, some 750,000 sqm in total, having first set up there in 2013. Tiel extends that footprint closer to Europe’s main consumption basins and freight corridors. It connects to Rotterdam directly via the A15 motorway, which should help ID Logistics tighten inbound and distribution flows for its clients while adding resilience and flexibility to the wider network.
The building is being developed on an eight-hectare plot with Dutch developer Heembouw. Beyond the storage area, the plans include a 3,800 sqm mezzanine and more than 1,800 sqm of offices. The group serves large retail, e-commerce, FMCG, consumer electronics and DIY names from these markets, among them Sony, Nespresso, Kawasaki, Action and Maxeda.
Off-grid and built to a green standard
Energy was clearly front of mind. New logistics developments in the Netherlands keep running into grid-capacity limits, so the Tiel platform is designed to work independently of the public electricity network, drawing instead on a shared energy hub set up collectively across the Medel park. The project targets BREEAM Excellent certification.
Bart Coenen, who heads ID Logistics Benelux, framed the move as a response to a market where logistics space has become scarce, saying the site should support existing clients as they grow while offering a durable option for new ones. With completion still two years out, the bet is that demand for well-located, energy-secure warehousing in the Dutch corridor will only harden.
