Geodis is doubling down on reused equipment at its multiclient platform in Douvrin, northern France. The logistics group brought back Lyon-based systems integrator Enjoy Automation to retrofit several tonnes of electrical, mechanical and electromechanical kit rather than buy everything new.
A Second Line for Oversized Goods
This is the second project of its kind at the site, following a 2025 retrofit that added a pick tower. The new work centres on a dedicated conveyor line for out-of-gauge products, mixing new and salvaged hardware. The build includes more than 118 metres of conveyors, a B+Equipment case former and sealer, a pick-to-light unit from Signature One, and an identification scanner.
How the Line Runs
A three-level ergonomic conveying system feeds the operator stations. Empty cartons arrive on levels two and three, while completed parcels travel on level one to the packing line matched to their volume. Enjoy WCS software controls and supervises the whole setup.
Retrofitting rather than ripping out is becoming a quieter theme in warehouse modernisation, where reused steel and salvaged electronics trim both cost and embodied carbon. Whether it scales beyond one-off sites is the open question.
