FM Logistic Secures SBTi Validation for 1.5°C Decarbonization Plan

French 3PL major FM Logistic wins SBTi validation for its Paris-aligned 1.5°C decarbonization plan, targeting a 42% scope 1 and 2 cut by 2030.

French 3PL major FM Logistic has secured Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validation for its short-term emissions reduction plan, aligning the company’s trajectory with the 1.5°C pathway under the Paris Agreement. The validation also covers a 2050 net-zero target.

Scope 1 and 2: 42% Cut by 2030

FM Logistic has committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 emissions (direct emissions and indirect emissions from energy use) by 42% by 2030, against a 2024/2025 baseline. The 3PL estimates the move equates to roughly 8,000 metric tons of CO2-equivalent avoided. Levers include building energy optimisation, a shift to renewable sources and a phased exit from fossil fuels across the operations.

Scope 3: 21.5% per Tonne-Kilometre

On scope 3, FM Logistic targets a 21.52% reduction in CO2 emissions per tonne-kilometre on heavy road transport and rail over the same period. The strategy leans on flow pooling, load optimisation and a wider modal mix. According to Antoine Dufetelle, the group’s sustainability and QHSE director, the priority is to build a supply chain that combines logistics performance, economic resilience and environmental responsibility.

Why SBTi Validation Matters

SBTi sign-off has become a hard currency for shippers selecting decarbonised 3PL partners, particularly for FMCG and pharmaceutical groups under their own CSRD reporting obligations. With the validation, FM Logistic joins a small but growing club of contract logistics specialists able to evidence a 1.5°C-aligned plan in tenders. The next milestone will be measurable interim progress before the 2030 checkpoint.
