German e-commerce platform Zalando will close its logistics center in Erfurt (Thuringia, central Germany), which employs about 1,000 people on a 130,000 sqm surface.

Citing the need to simplify its logistics network and optimize operating costs, the group—owner of 12 logistics centers in Germany, Poland, and Italy—plans to stop activities at this Erfurt site by June 2027. “Adapting our logistics infrastructure is essential to remain competitive,” states Roberto Gentz, co-CEO of Zalando, which employs over 10,000 people in fulfillment centers and generated revenues of nearly €10.1B in 2024.
